What is Open Call 2022? 

Open Call is Walmart’s biggest sourcing event for Walmart and Sam’s Club’s over 5,300 stores and clubs in the U.S.  

Why apply for Open Call 2022?

Who is eligible? 

To be eligible for Open Call, a product must be manufactured, developed, or assembled in the United States. Also, the requirements for becoming a supplier on Walmart.com or at Walmart and Sam’s Club are a little different from the requirements for the Walmart Marketplace. The last day to submit the application is February 25, 2022. 

What if I get selected for Open Call 2022? 

Sellers who have been chosen will have the chance to show off their new items to Walmart and/or Sam’s Club merchants on June 28 and 29, 2022.

Along with one-on-one product pitch meetings, there will be breakout sessions led by Walmart and Sam’s Club executives and special guests where sellers and potential suppliers may learn more about relevant issues and resources. Many of the sessions will be done electronically, so even if you cannot arrange a product pitch meeting, you may still attend.

How to prepare for a perfect pitch? 

Each participant will have 30 minutes to wow Walmart and/or Sam’s Club merchants with their product and show why it is the best in its category. Here are some expert tips to maximize your chances of getting to the next round. 

  • Be sure about the product.
    Sellers must own their brand, and products must be manufactured, grown, or assembled in the United States. If you want to sell something that has CBD or cannabis in it or has a special feature, you can’t sell it at the open call. Cigarettes, tobacco, pharmaceutical drugs, animal health, barn and stall equipment, irrigation and spraying, and retailer services are not allowed.
  • Analytics is important.
    Share information regarding the product’s performance, such as online sales or unit sales. Optiwise.ai analytics feature can help you with that.
  • Tell them why customers love it.
    Show the influence your products have on the consumer experience. Tell them why the customers will love it.
  • Have a clear USP.
    Make sure that you can come up with a unique, unique USP that only your brand can offer.
  • Keep the story short.
